Andy Rios' timing could not have been better. The Eden Prairie, Minn. native had never scored a game in his college soccer career until last  Tuesday when he boomed a shot off a free kick into the  Northland goal to give the Pipers an early 2-0 lead. Now that he had the hang of things, the senior took a pass from Adam King and ripped in a second goal early in the second half to stifle a Lumberjack attempt at a comeback as the Pipers went on to record a solid 5-1 win.

Four nights later, Rios showed he remembered what he did to find his scoring touch. Hamline led Crown by a tight 1-0 margin early in the second half when Rios unleashed his third netter of the week. That was enough to seal the deal in what ended up as a 2-0 victory. Rios' three goals makes him the team's leading goalscorer for the season's early going.

Thus, HU takes a winning overall record (3-2) into Wednesday's MIAC opener at Macalester. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Pipers are back at Paterson Field on Saturday, September 16 against Carleton. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
