One of the best swimmers in recent Hamline history made one last big slash last weekend. Taylor Martinek capped her magnificent HU career with a pair of All-Conference efforts and three top five finishes at the MIAC Swimming/Diving meet.

The Iowan earned AC honors for her second place effort in the 100 Backstroke and a third place showing in the 200 Backstroke. She was also fifth in the 50 Freestyle race.

Taylor left her name imprinted on the school record book with the all time record for the 100 (56.83) and 200 (2:05.94) Backstroke and a 24.20 clocking in the 50 Free. She also is in the top four all time in the 100 Free. Last year, she became the first women's Piper swimmer in 20 years to win an event at the MIAC meet when she won the 100 backstroke.

At 6-3, Taylor has always cast a long shadow in the pool. Now she will in the school record books as well.
