Thomsen broke his own school record twice in the 60 meter hurdles at the MSU-Mankato Mark Schuck Open and Multi on January 29. He broke the record for the first time with a mark of 8.36 in the preliminaries, and the second time with a fourth-place tally of 8.30 in the finals. Thomsen also added a sixth-place time of 36.56 in the 300 meter dash.
