Jessica Putland made a big impression on the MIAC last week. The junior won the Weight Throw competition at the conference indoor meet last Friday. Putland threw 53-11 1/4" as the Pipers went 1-2 int he event. (Teammate Erin Urbanowicz was second at 53-6 1/2". 

It was part of a busy weekend for Putland, who came back on Saturday and finished in third placein the Shot Put with a 42-7 effort.

Putland's performance is the 18th best by a Division III weight thrower this year. Unfortunately, the NCAA field only takes 17 participants. The junior missed joining teammate Marolyn Saulsberry at this weekend's NCAA D-III meet by a mere two inches. 

But it all helped the women's team jump four places from a year ago. Hamline finished fifth at last week's meet, scoring 68 points.
