Aguirre Has Big Night In Men's BB Loss In Collegeville

1/16/2013 11:00:00 PM

Box Score Noah Aguirre (pictured) started out hot and stayed that way all Wednesday night for the HU men's basketball team in Collegeville. Unfortunately, so did the opposition.

The senior scored 25 points -- two short ofhis career high set when he was a freshman -- but St. John's shot 53 per cent from the field for the game and dealt the Pipers a 75-59 loss at Sexton Arena.

Aguirre was 10-for-14 from the field and was one of just two Pipers to hit double figures. Marshall Jestings came off the bench to score 10. Dior Ford was held to just nine points but added nine rebounds. Hamline is now 6-9 overall, 3-7 as the MIAC schedule hits the midway mark.

Yhe Johnnies led 10-4 early but HU worked its way back and grabbed the lead. A 15-4 SJU run late in the half led to a 35-26 intermission lead that was too much to overcome. The Pipers did whittle the margin to five only to see SJU scored eight of the next 10 points.

Hamline returns home to host Carleton Saturday at Hutton Arena. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
