Toss in a 58 per cent shooting night  and a 17-8 edge in steals and you have the nutshell version of how Hamline's men's basketball team roared to a 94-78 win over St. Mary's Monday night in Winona.

Tyler Pannell (pictured) had a career high 20 points and moved into second place all-time in Three Pointers with 121. Noah Aguirre kicked in 16 points. Dior Ford added 13 and Wes Pinera made all10 of his free throw points to pace the offense. 

Bennett Cooper made the most of his first start with a team high five rebounds.

Both teams came out gunning in the first half. Hamline shot 65 per cent from the field and SMU  hit 57 per cent. The Pipers never trailed en route to a 46-32 mid-game edge. Pannell, who went 5-for-6 from long distance, connected on four of those shot sin the first 20 minutes.

SMU hit the first shot of the second half only to see the Pipers respond with a 15-3 run that put the game out of reach. The 94 points is a season high for Hamline, which improved to 7-10 overall and 4-8 in the MIAC.

Finding their offensive shoes couldn't have come at a more opportune time for HU. On Wednesday, second place Augsburg visits Hutton Arena for a 7:30 p.m. game. Next Saturday, they travel to take on first place St. Thomas.
