Box Score Jake Niemann may only be a sophomore. But he is quickly becoming a go-to guy for the Hamline men's soccer team. The Hastings, MN native lifted the Pipers into a 1-1 tie midway in the first half of Saturday's game against Concordia at chilly Paterson Field.
The Cobbers, however, responded midway in the second half to defeat the Pipers, 2-1.
Niemann nailed his second penalty kick of the season to offset an early Cobber goal. The game remain deadlocked until CC's Brett Wegleitner scored his second of the game at 67:05.
HU had six corner kicks to Concordia's none in the second stanza and forced CC goalie Ben Glogoza to make three saves.

Joey Matesi recorded six saves to up his season total to 52, fourth best in the conference. His .812 save percentage also stands fourth.
Hamline is 3-7-1 overall, 0-4-1 in the MIAC. The Pipers head out on the road next week for games at Augsburg and Carleton.
