Box Score First, the ball bounced Hamline's way ... just in time for Grace Nichols'  first collegiate goal in the waning seconds of the first half.

Then the Pipers put the clamps down hard on the MIAC's leading scoring team. The result was a 3-1 victory over Augsburg Tuesday at Paterson Field. It evened the overall season mark to 6-6-2 and improved Hamline's MIAC record to 3-4-0.

Augsburg was held to just nine shots total on the day to help Hamline improve their Paterson Field record to 4-1-1 in 2013.

The Pipers put the Auggies on their heels early when Aubrey Stenson redirected an Eden Behrens throw into the net with just 5:58 gone.

Augsburg struck back seven minutes later on Olivia Muyres' league-leading 15th marker of the year. It looked like that would be the halftime score until lightning struck in the final seconds of play.

Kristen Berry's free kick wandered into a pile of players. Mallory Wirth nudged the ball in the direction of Nichols, who promptly booted it home at 44:53.

Behrens then sealed the deal as she finished off a play started by Aileen Schiebner with help from Nicole Verdoorn. For Behrens, it was her team high seventh tally of the season.

Erin Urbanowicz recorded five saves in net ot earn the win for HU.

The Pipers can continue to raise havoc in the conference race when they host Carleton Saturday at Paterson Field. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
