Box Score Hamline's men's soccer team refused to let one of the top teams in the MIAC faze them. The Pipers allowed two early goals but then shut the door hard on Carleton's offense the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately, the Knights, who have lost just one game all season, played just as persistent defense and escaped with a 2-0 victory at Bell Field.
Gilbert Ghong had two of the Pipers' three shots on offense. On the other end of the field, GK
Derrick Mora held tough as well, recording four saves.
HU coach
Alex Morawiecki was proud of his team's effort. "Despite giving up two first half goals, I thought we had maybe our best effort today from this group in a few weeks," he said. "Most importantly, we responded positively from digging a deep hole early on. That team won't lose many games -- if any -- before the NCAA tournament."
Hamline, now 3-9-1 overall, returns to the friendly confines of Paterson Field for their next three games. They will face Presentation in a non-conference game on Wednesday, October 23. The Pipers will host Bethel next Saturday, October 26 and finish off their home schedule on Oct. 30 against St. Mary's.
