10/19/2013 6:33:00 PM

Box Score Sam Greeney-Hamlin joined some prestigious company Saturday. Greeney-Hamlin became just the 8th player in school history to record 1,000 career kills with 11 in the Pipers' 3-0 loss at St. Thomas Saturday.

The St. Cloud, MN native had 11 Saturday and did not commit an error to raise her career total to 1,008 for her 396 game career. Greeney-Hamlin, the only four year senior on the team, is having her best statistical season with a .349 hitting percentage, fourth best in the league. Her season total of 266 kills is already a career high and is tied for 7th in the loop.

Greeney-Hamlin hit .524 as the Pipers made the Tommies, the defending NCAA Division III champs who are stand 22-2 on the season (tied for first in the MIAC with a 7-1 mark) work hard for the win. After losing the opening set 20-25, HU jumped to middle set lead before bowing 22-25. They held their ground for a long time in the third set as well before bowing, 18-25.

Lynsey Reimer was busy in the back court with 24 digs. The junior now averaged 5.00 digs per set and has 460 on the season. Both totals are good for fourth best in the MIAC. Molly Hurdle had a double with 32 assists and a dozen digs. Hurdle is now averaging 11 assists per set and has 770 for the season -- totals that stand third best in the conference.

Hamline dropped to 4-4 in the MIAC with the decision. With two weeks and three conference games remaining in the season, the Pipers (15-11 overall) are part of a three-way deadlock (with St. Mary's and Macalester) for fifth place.

HU returns to Hutton Arena Wednesday to host St. Benedict (21-2, 6-2). They play at St. Catherine on Saturday, October 26.
