Box Score The Hamline men's soccer team gave a Parents Day crowd a going away game to remember.
Nick Simondet scored early in the second half and
Derrick Mora had another stout game in goal to help the Pipers record their second straight victory, 1-0, over Bethel, at Paterson Field Saturday.
HU upped its overall mark to 5-9-1 (1-5-1 MIAC) with a solid 90-minute effort.
It was a lively first half with Mora making a pair of superb saves, including one on BU's Jake Opheim in the last minute of the first half to keep the game scoreless.
In the second half, the Pipers came out agressively. It paid off 5:27 into the session when
Stuart Trench fed Simondet, who nailed his team high fifth goal of the season.
That ended the scoring but not the action. The Royals tried to pick up the pace, most notably in the latter stages of the game. Mora, who finished with seven saves, also stopped several plays before they could get under way by agressively intercepting clearing passes.
It all added up to the Pipers' second win of the week and improved their Paterson Field record to 4-5 on the season. HU has one more game at Paterson -- Wednesday, October 30 against St. Mary's. Hamline finishes the season Nov. 2 at Gustavus Adolphus.
