Box Score It was the sort of game that figured to come down to one goal. Hamline goalieÂ
Erin Urbanowicz stood tall all day, making seven saves andÂ
Eden Behrens provided the only offense of the day with a late goal as Hamline's women's soccer team edged St. Thomas, 1-0, at Paterson Field Saturday.Â
The Pipers crept back into the MIAC race with a 2-3 league mark and a 4-5-2 overall. They also kept their undefeated record at Paterson Field intact. Hamline is 3-0-1 on its own turf this fall.
An early morning rain dampened the field but not the spirits of the two sides. Both teams attacked to no avail for nearly 80 minutes. Urbanowicz recorded four saves in the first 45 minutes and three more in the second half. UST goalie Jenny Grahek handled both shots sent her way in the first half and three more in the second.
The combination of Behrens andÂ
Aileen Scheibner decided the day. Schiebner threw a cross from the side in the direction of Behrens, who headed it into the net for her team leading 5th goal of the year.
The Pipers then threw a blanket in front of Urbanowicz to secure the win, Hamline's second in a row over St. Thomas.
HU travels to Northwestern (Roseville) Tuesday for a non-conference game and returns home next Saturday to face Concordia.Â
