Box Score

It was the explosion that Hamline women's soccer team had been waiting for. Aileen Scheibner (20) scored twice and assisted on a third goal as the Pipers had their best offensive day of the season in a 5-0 win at Northwestern Tuesday.

The Pipers jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes and never looked back to even their season record at 5-5-2.

Alyssa Skinner got HU off and running with a goal just 3:15 into the game. Scheibner, who tied for the team lead in goals last year with nine, was hobbled with injuries early in the season. She has been slowly rounding into form in recent games but hadn't found the back of the net until she tallied 18:45 into the game. She nailed another one at 30:25 to make it 3-0 before halftime.

Caroline Exarhos and Eden Behrens (on a feed from Scheibner) scored 10 minutes apart to cap the scoring. Behrens, the team's leading scorer with 15 points, also had a pair of assists.

Hamline outshot the Eagles, 30-2, for the game with an 18-2 edge in shots on goal. Amy Ramras earned the shutout for the Pipers, who won their second game in a row.

HU returns to MIAC play Saturday when they host Concordia. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
