2/13/2013 11:02:00 PM

Box Score Noah Aguirre did his level best to ruin Bethel's playoff hopes. But the Royals were simply too deep and broke away in the second half to knock off the Pipers, 79-59.

Aguirre (pictured) had a memorable penultimate game, scoring 23 points and adding nine rebounds and was the lone Piper in double digits.  But the combination of Taylor Hall (25 points, nine rebounds) and Kyle Zimmerman (20-10) was too much to overcome.

The game started well with HU keeping pace with the Royals for th first 10 minutes. BU pushed ahead by 10 but Hamline rallied to chop the lead to 41-35 after 20 minutes.

Bethel scored nine of the first 11 pointds after the break and HU was forced to play catchup the rest of the night.

In the end, the Pipers held a slight rebounding edge (43-40) and shot better form the field (40.4-39.7 per cent). But BU connected on four more field goals and went 23-34 from the free throw line compared to Hamline's 9-17.

Hamline, now 8-16 overall, finishes the season at Carleton Saturday.
