It was a case of the Alpha and the Omega doing in the Hamline women's soccer team Friday night in their season opener. HU gave up a first minute goal and the winner with 3:49 remaining in the game in a 2-1 loss to Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon.

Eden Behrens (7) recorded the HU marker in the first of a two-game west coast swing.

The Pipers got off on the wrong foot, allowing a goal in the first minute of play. Molly Jacobs, who recorded six saves and her teammates settled down and kept with L & C until Behrens converted a cross from Aileen Scheibner at 56:35 to tie the game at 1.

The game remained stuck until L & C scored with 3:49 left in regulation. Hamline pressured and Scheibner did gte a shot on goal in the last minute but the Pipers couldn't convert.

Hamline will look to draw even on the Oregon swing when they play at Pacific Saturday.
