Box Score There were no eyepopping numbers on the Hamline volleyball stat sheet Saturday afternoon at Hutton Arena. But there were a lot of very good numbers and they added up to a 3-0 sweep of St. Olaf  that evened the Pipers' MIAC slate at 1-1. Hu moved to 8-6 overall with the solid 25-20, 25-15, 26-24 decision.

Paige Walters led the balanced offensive attack with a dozen kills and Sam Greeney-Hamlin (pictured at left) added 10 hits and a solid .325 hitting percentage. Five other Pipers added kills to help the Pipers to a 43-35 overall edge in that department.

It was the same way on defense. Steph Kaup had four blocking assists but she had plenty of help. The Pipers totaled 12 in all with Caitlyn Gottwald (pictured at right), Greeney-Hamlin, Molly Hurrle and Walters recording two each. Hurrle was a multiple presence with 13 digs (tying Lynsey Reimer for team high), two service aces and 37 assists.

In game 1, HU broke away from 9-all with three straight points and never trailed again. It was a similar script in the middle game. This time, HU scored six straight point sto snap a 5-all tie and roll to the win. The third set was different. The Oles started fast, jumping to an 18-14 advantage. HU rallied to force a 19-all tie. it rocked back and forth from there as the team traded five points each. Then HU nailed the final two points with Walters registering the final kill that sealed the Pipers' first volleyball win over St. Olaf since 2007.

Hamline now heads on the road for a pair of matches. They are at Gustavus Adolphus Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and go to Augsburg Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. start.
