Box Score

It is what leaders do. Dior Ford took charge of the game early, scoring the Pipers' first five points and setting the tone early for what proved to be a 62-58 win over Carleton Saturday afternoon at Hutton Arena.

Ford led all comers with 22 points and seven rebounds as Hamline climbed back within a game of .500 at 8-9 overall.

HU started out shooting hot and stayed there. They hit 15 of 25 shots in the first half for a blistering 60 percent. But the Knights came back with 52 percent shooting in their own right. So, HU led just 34-32 at the break.

In the second half, they pushed the margin to as many as 12 points before the Knights began to whittle away and make things tense. It got down to four points with 23 seconds before Ford, an 88 percent shooter from the line, drained a pair of free throws to ensure a victory.

HU ended up a season high 56.6 per cent from the field (26-46) and also held a 27-24 rebounding edge.

The Pipers now stand tied with the Knights for seventh place at 5-7 in the MIAC. They will take on the team immediately ahead of them -- St. John's -- Wednesday night in Collegeville. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
