Box Score On a night when three of the four top scorers in the MIAC were on hand, Hamline's
Dior Ford shared the spotlight. The junior, who ranks third in the league with a 18.1 ppg average, scored 25 points to tie Augsburg's Dan Kornbaum for high honors for the night. But Kornbaum's teammates added a little more ammo and the Pipers dropped a freewheeling 86-71 decision at Hutton Arena Wednesday night.
Hamline shot a season high 59.2 percent from the field (29-49) for the night. Augsburg, however, was close behind with a 57.4 mark.
It was a fast paced game from the start. Augsburg built an early nine point lead only to see HU whittle it to a pair on three occasions. A late surge pushed the margin to 11 at halftime (44-33). In the second half, the Pipers were able to get within single digits but the visitors kept on shooting well and dropped Hamline's overall season record to 6-6 (3-4 MIAC).
Ford scored 20 of his points in the second half.
Austin Johnson added 14 points and six rebounds while
Jake Kreuser (44) made his presence felt with nine points, six rebounds and three blocks.
Hamline now heads on the road, facing Bethel on Saturday, January 11 in Arden Hills. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
