The scores were close all night but the Cardinals eked out points at the end and dropped HU to 12-5 on the season, 4-3 in the MIAC.

Lynsey Reimer led the receivers with 19 digs followed closely by Micki Green, who had 17. Michelle Mattke added a dozen and Vassi Prattas (pictured) had a career high 11. The junior added 10 assists for her first career double double.

Katie Ayres was the lone Piper in double digits for kills with 12. Amelia Jensen led with 13 assists followed by Prattas and Reimer, who had a season high nine.

Hamline led early but SMU took charge midway through the first set, which ended 22-25. In the second set, HU was fighting from behind often. They were able to get within a point before surrendering 23-25. The Pipers came out with both barrels int he third set, taking the lead and rolling to a 25-17 win. The fourth set went back and forth before SMU caught fire late for the 21-25 decision that ended the evening.
