Box Score Hamline's men's basketball team found a way to shake off the residue of a cold, wintry night. The Pipers shot a torrid 55 per cent from the field, using a 20-1 spurt in the second half to pull away late in a 79-59 season-opening win at Northwestern (Roseville). It was a balanced attack with four players in double digits and two more with eight points as HU kept the Eagles at bay most of the night.

Travis Johnson and
Bennett Cooper each with 10.
Dylan See-Rockers finished the game with 8 points.
The first half rocked back and forth with both team taking turns having the lead. Hamline scored the last four points of the half to go into the lockerroom with a 33-29 advantage.
The game remained tight with HU clinging to a 43-42 advantage with 11:11 remaining. Garvis then drove the paint for a basket that triggered the five minute outburst that ended with Hamline now leading 62-43. The Eagles never got closer than 15 points the rest of the game.
The Pipers return home to host UW-River Falls on Wednesday, November 19 at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
