Box Score Hamline volleyballer
Michelle Mattke (16) is learning to double down with the best of them. The Owatonna, MN native recorded her second double-double of the season in Hamline's 3-1 loss to Loras Saturday morning at the St. Kate's Invite. Mattke had a team high 10 kills and added 15 digs but HU fell to 9-2 overall on the season.
The Pipers started well, grabbing a lead in the first set only to see Loras rally late for a 23-25 decision. After a 17-25 loss in the second set, Hamline got on the board with a 25-21 win in the third set. They sprinted to a 10-4 lead in the fourth set and late led had a 18-15 edge. But Loras rattled off 10 points in a row to take the match.
In addition to Mattke on offense,
Stephanie Kaup and
Katie Ayres had nine kills each.
Amelia Jensen had a career best 30 assists and
Lynsey Reimer had 18 digs. Reimer was named to the All-Tournament team.
Hamline now heads towards the meat of their MIAC schedule with two road encounters next week. They play at Concordia Sept. 24 (7:00 p.m.) and travel to St. Olaf for a Sept. 27 (3:00 p.m.) match.
