Box Score It didn't end the way the Hamline University men's basketball team wanted it to. But there were still several positives to be gleaned from a 63-51 loss to Gustavus Adolphus Saturday at Hutton Arena. Dior Ford inched closer to the 1,300 point for his career as he tied for game high honors with 18 points.  The senior fired in four three-pointers to move into a tie for sixth place all-time in school history with 93. His four free throws brough his career mark to 222, also a tie for sixth all-time.

The Pipers (7-11 overall, 4-9 MIAC) refused to buckle after the Gusties used a late run to forge a 38-25 halftime lead. Gustavus shot 60 per cent from the field in the opening 20 minutes compared to Hamline's 32 per cent. The Pipers had the same percentage but they clamped down a lot harder on the Gusties and held them to juist 10-24 from the field.

After trailing by as many as 19 points, the Pipers shot back and closed to within nine with 8:30 left. GAC pushed the lead to 14 but HU refused to go away and closed the gap to nine on three more occasions before time ran out.

Ford, a senior, did more than just score points. He tied with Zach Smith for the rebounding lead with five and also had three blocked sahots. He now ranks third in the MIAC in that department with 30. Austin Johnson added a dozen points for his fourth straight game in double digits.

Hamline finishes a three-game homestand Wednesday, February 4 against Bethel. Game time at Hutton Arena is 7:00 p.m.
