Mattke, Prattas Share Spotlight For Pipers Against Royals

10/3/2015 7:01:00 PM

Box Score Welcome back, Michelle Mattke. Nice work, Vassi Prattas.

The two seniors were among the notables as Hamline's volleyball team dropped a highly competitive 3-1 decision to Bethel Saturday night at Hutton Arena. Mattke's season ran into a road block when she went down with a leg injury after the first match of the year. She has slowly working her way back into the swing of things and was front and center as the Pipers jumped on the Royals for a 25-22 win in the first set. The Owatonna, Minn. native had four of her 11 kills (as did Julia Zolnosky, who led HU with 14 overall).

They received considerable help from Prattas, who had five of her career best 20 assists (which tied Amelia Jensen for team honors) in capturing the early lead. The Royals fought back to win a pair of nailbiters, 25-27 and 23-25 and then broke free for a 15-25 verdict in the fourth set.

Micki Green was in action all night, recording a game high 33 digs. Prattas had a career high 14 digs. In all, HU recorded 89 digs.

Hamline is now 7-9 overall, 1-4 in the MIAC.

They will have a quick turnaround with a non-conference match at Crown Monday night. The match will start at 7:00 p.m.
