Balanced Attack Sends Pipers VB Past Crown

10/5/2015 9:44:00 PM

Box Score It was the type of performance that HU head volleyball coach Becky Egan was looking for. 10 different players recorded and the Pipers hit an impressive .311 as a team in recording a 3-0 sweep at Crown Monday night.  Beth Goodman led the parade with 11 kills and a .381 hitting percentage but she had plenty of help as Hamline stormed by their hosts by 26-16, 25-14, 25-13 counts.

Hamline trailed just once all night (at 3-4 in the second set) in improving their record to 8-9 overall on the season.

Vassi Prattas continued to offer great support with a  game high 19 assists and three service aces. Amelia Jensen added 11 assists. As usual, Micki Green topped the back wall workers with 16 digs. Julia Zolnosky recorded 11 and Jensen had her seventh double-double (and third in the last four matches) with 10.

After hitting .303 in the first set, the Pipers hit a phenomenal .519 in the middle set.

Hamline returns to action Friday when they take on Northwestern (MN) in a non-conference match at Hutton Arena (7 p.m. start). Hamline, which is 1-4 in MIAC play, hosts Macalester Saturday at Hutton (3 p.m. start).
