Dior Ford finished his career with a 10-point effort as Hamline's men's basketball lost their season finale, 89-62, at MIAC champion St. Thomas Saturday. Despite the setback, Hamlime improved its victory total under second year head coach
Jim Hayes. The Pipers, who won nine games in 2013-14, end the season two games better at 11-14 overall, 8-12 in the MIAC.
Smith hit a pair of three pointers and had a team high six rebounds to lead the Hamline offense. Ford finished his Hamline career in eighth place all time with 1,366 points. The Arizonan had three blocks to up his second place career total to 113. He also ranks fifth in Field Goals Made (515), sixth in Free Throws Made (232) and Three Pointers (103).
HU led by as many as five points in the first half. The game was tied at 19 when the Tommies broke free to take a 40-27 halftime edge.
The Pipers lose four seniors -- Ford,
Bennett Cooper, Austin Johnson and
Marshall Jestings -- to graduation. But they return 13, including Smith, who had an outstanding freshman season and was one of just two Pipers to start every game.
