Late Rally Falls Short For Women's Soccer

9/1/2015 6:53:00 PM

Box Score A furious second half rally came up just short as the Hamline women's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a 2-1 loss to St. Scholastica at Paterson Field. The Pipers broke slowly, managing two shots on goal int he first 45 minutes. The Saints, who won the UMAC a year ago, scored a pair of goals nine minutes apart late in the first half to grab a 2-0 intermission edge.

HU came out faster after the rest and Alicia Williams (7) took a pass from Arendje Louter and make short work of the ball for the first netter of the season with nearly 37 minutes to play. The Pipers kept after the Saints most of the rest of the way, unloading seven shots to the Saints' three. But they could not find the equalizer.

Amy Ramras started in the HU goal, giving up both goals. Anna Briscoe had a scoreless second half in the net. Kymmi Hatlestad led the Pipers' 10-shot attack with three.

Hamline has little time to reflect on the game. They head to UW-River Falls Thursday night to face the Falcons in a 7:00 p.m. start. HU returns to Paterson Saturday to take on UM-Morris in a 3:00 p.m. match.
