VB Team Rallies Past Carleton

Box Score The Hamline volleyball team went defensive with excellent results in their MIAC opening match at Carleton. The Pipers held the Knights to a .137 hitting percentage en route to a 3-1 win Wednesday night at West Gym in Northfield.

HU had plemty of offense when it needed it. Julia Zolnosky had an impressive 19 kill, 16 dig night for her sixth double-double of the season. Marisa Franco chipped in with 10 kills and 11 digs. Miquel Green led a 71 dig performance with 23 and Amelia Jensen had a match high 43 assists. 

The Pipers led most of the first set and held off a late Carleton charge for a 26-24 win. The Knights responded with a 25-17 decision in the second set. HU shook that off with a 25-17 win in its own right, That set up a dramatic fourth set. HU led 14-11 early only to see Carleton retake a 18-16 advantage. HU turned the match in their direction with a 8-3 run that gave them a 24-21 lead. The Knights got the next two points but HU held for a 25-23 win.

Hamline improved to 7-5 overall. They now get a week's respite before facing St. Mary's September 23 at Hutton Arena. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
