Box Score Consider it a case of quality tying up quanity. Hamline's women's soccer team made the most of its opportunity, converting a penalty kick in a 1-1 double OT tie with Macalester Saturday at Paterson Field.Â
Arendje Louter nailed the PK for her third goal of the season 9:59 into the second half to give HU a 1-0 lead. For the longest time, it appeared the Pipers would have a first ever win over the Scots but the visitors tied the game with 1:50 left and that was the way it ended.
It marked the second straight year the teams had played to a two OT tie. Last year, it was a 2-2 decision.Â
Hamline goalieÂ
Anna Briscoe (pictured) had an excellent game, recording nine saves, including three in the first extra session. In all, the Scots took 19 shots to the Pipers' three. But HU more than held their own in the middle of the field, forcing the Scots to aim from long distance most of the way.Â
HU has now gone undefeated in two straight games and improved to 2-5-1 overall, 0-2-1 in the MIAC. The Pipers play at St. Olaf on September 30 in a 4:00 p.m. affair and return home on October 3 to face St. Thomas at Paterson Field for a 3:30 p.m. matchup. Â
