Knutson sets New Career High For Men's BB

1/11/2016 10:38:00 PM

Box Score Hamline freshman men's BB guard Connor Knutson scored his team's first points of the night Monday in Moorhead -- and was never slowed down all night. Knutson established a new career high for a game with 26 points -- the most by a Piper this year -- in an 81-66 loss to Concordia.

The Forest Lake, Minn. native hit 10 of 13 field goal tries to pace the Piper attack, which shot a solid 56.8 per cent from the field for the night. The Cobbers nearly matched that with a 54.9 per cent effort and outdid HU at the free throw line, connecting on 18 of 23 tosses.

The game started fast and was tied at 12 apiece after 6:14 of play. CC scored the  next 14 points and the Pipers could not catch up the rest of the night. Knutson, making just his second start, has now scored 78 points in his last four games. Zach Smith was the only other HU player in double figures with 10 points.  Herbert Tarpeh led the board battle with seven rebounds.

Hamline, the youngest team in the league, is 3-9 overall, 1-6 in the MIAC. The Pipers continue a busy slate of games against Carleton Wednesday at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
