Box Score Hamline volleyball coach
Becky Egan gained her 50th collegiate victory Friday as Hamline swept past Macalester, 3-0.
Beth Goodman drilled 11 kills and
Julia Zolnosky added 10 as the Pipers evened their overall mark at 7-7. They improved to 2-4 in the MIAC with the 25-17, 25-22, 25-23 decision.
Zolnosky added 16 digs for a nifty double-double. Morgan Coleman had 24 assists and 13 digs for a second double-double while
Amelia Jensen also had 13 digs.
The Pipers hit an impressive .344 in dominating the opening set. The second set was dicier. HU broke from a 21-all tie to score four of the last five points to win the set. In the third set, Hamline held a 16-7 lead only to see the homestanding Scots rally and get within a marker at 24-23. A Goodman kill ended matters for the night.
Egan, who is in her fourth year as the head coach, is 50-45 overall as a head coach. She is just the third HU coach ever to reach 50 career wins.
Hamline has little time to relish the win. They face Luther and host St. Scholastica in Duluth Saturday.
