Box Score They line up next to each other and in the boxscore.  As it turned out, Zach Smith (10) and Bret Lukes (11) went 1-2 in scoring as well. The sophomore duo combined for 45 points Wednesday in the men's basketball team's 88-79 loss to Concordia at Hutton Arena. Smith, who scored 30 Monday night at Carleton, came back for 25 more points, adding a game high four assists as well. Helped by four three-pointers, Lukes garnered a career high 20 points as the Pipers battled the Cobbers to the end before bowing to fall to 4-18 overall, 2-15 in the MIAC.

It was a tough slog all night. The first half went back and forth with Nick Powell's three-pointer putting Hamline back head at 3-29 with 6:24 left in the first half. CC scored the next five points and went into the locker room with a 46-39 advantage.

The Cobbers pushed their lead to 11 only to see Lukes score seven in a row to get within 57-54 with 12:09 remaining. Despite shooting 50 per cent for the game (32-64), that was as close as HU could get. Concordia shot 59 per cent (33-56) and took advantage of a huge edge at the free throw line (17-21 compared to Hamline's 6-6) to clinch the win.

In addition to Smith and Lukes, Travis VanElsberg scored 11 points and Herbert Tarpeh added 10. VanElsberg, Tarpeh and Connor Knutson had five rebounds each to help win the battle of the boards, 31-28.

The Pipers finish off a five games in 10 days siege Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
