Box Score And a freshmen led them. Isaac Brooks scored a career high 19 points for Hamline's men's basketball team in a 74-61 loss Wednesday to St. Mary's in Winona. The Lakeville, Minn. native (pictured) was an impressive 8-10 from the field for the Pipers, who led 33-31 at halftime but fell to a second half Cardinal surge that saw the home team shoot a red-hot 59.1 per cent from the field.

Herbert Tarpeh added a dozen for Hamline, which is now 4-20 overall, 2-17 in the MIAC. Trailing 27-26 with three minutes left in the first half, the Pipers scored seven of the next 11 points to take a two-point lead at intermission.

SMU started the second session with a 14-2 outburst to grab a 10-point lead. HU refused to wilt, cutting the margin to three with nine minutes left.  SMU inched farther ahead only to see Hamline come right back. A TC Robinson layup with 4:04 remaining had it back to three points at 59-56. The Cardinals scored the next five points and went to claim the win.

Zach Smith scored just eight points but led all comers with a career high eight assists. Nick Powell was the top HU rebounder with five.
