Herbert Tarpeh know how to make an exit. In the final effort of his 50-game HU career, the St. Michael, Minn. native scored a career high 14 points and added a career best seven rebounds in the Pipers' 75-54 loss to Bethel at Hutton Arena.Â
Tarpeh, who was honored before the game, played a season high 34 minutes and was a force throughout the game. He hit five of 11 shots from the field and was four of six from the free throw line to lead the Hamline offense. He was also the top HU rebounder in the game and had one of the team's five steals. For the season, Tarpeh led the team with a .622 field goal percentage and topped all rebounders with 100.Â
The Royals started fast, sprinting to a 12-4 edge in the first four minutes of play. It was 40-25 at halftime. HU broke out of the gate early in the second half, cutting the edge to 11 at 44-33 with 15:12 remaining. But that was close as they could get the rest of the game.Â
Hamline, which had just two juniors on the team (both of whom missed the majority of the season with injuries), finishes 4-21, 2-18 in the MIAC.Â
