Roberts Extends Scoring Streak For W Soccer

9/17/2016 3:54:00 PM

Box Score Kaley Roberts continued to have the hot foot Saturday for the Hamline women's soccer team. The freshman scored for the third straight game but St. Catherine rallied for a 3-1 victory at Paterson Field before a large crowd.

Roberts struck early, converting an Anna Futterer pass for her team leading sixth goal of the season just 2:45 into the game. Despite going on to fire 11 more shots (eight of which were on goal) at the SCU netminders, HU was unable to dent the twine and took its first loss of the season after a school record five straight wins. Roberts was the top Piper gunner with six total shots, four of which were on net.

SCU scored two goals 16 1/2 minutes apart to grab a 2-1 halftime and struck again five minutes into the second stanza to claim the win. Amy Ramras was busy in goal, recording eight saves (which tied her season high).

The Pipers have a non-conference game Tuesday at Wis-Eau Claire (4:00 p.m.). They will take a 1-1 conference slate to Macalester on Friday, September 23 in MIAC action. That game begins at 4:30 p.m.
