W Soccer Rallies To Tie Scots

Box Score They had to weather a lengthy delay and rally from behind. In the end, it resulted in a 1-1 2 OT tie Friday night at soggy Macalester Stadium. The deadlock -- the third straight year these teams finished that way -- improved Hamline's record to 5-2-1 on the season (1-1-1 MIAC). 

Kaley Roberts converted a pass from Lolly Higa for the Piper tally. It was raining from the start. The Pipers had the better of play in the first half but neither team managed a tally until the Scots did so in the 43rd minute. Lightning was spotted near the stadium at halftime, causing a 45-minute delay. The Pipers started strong in the second half as well. In the 55th minute, Roberts took a pass from Higa and netted a shot from eight yards away for her seventh goal of the season. The freshman, who has now scored in four of the the last five games played, is tied for first with Augsburg's Ashley St. Aubin among MIAC women forwards in goals scored.

The Pipers outshot the Scots, 7-3 in the second half and 14-7 for the game. Arendje Louter had four of those with Roberts adding three. Amy Ramras made her only save of the night in the final minute of play to preserve the verdict. 

Hamline is off until Wednesday, September 28 when they will host St. Olaf at Paterson Field. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
