Kaley Roberts delivers in all sorts of weather. The sophomore scored twice in the first half as Hamline fought through a persistent cold rain to earn a key 4-2 win over St. Mary's Saturday at Paterson Field. With three MIAC games remaining, Hamline is in sixth place -- the final playoff spot -- with a 4-3-1, good for 13 points. HU trails two future opponents -- St. Benedict and St. Catherine -- by just one point and stand two ahead of Gustavus Adolphus, the other MIAC foe remaining on the schedule.
Roberts wasted little time getting the offensive show in gear. She finished off a three-way passing play to open the scoring 2:22 into the game. SMU responded with a goal 68 seconds later.
Brittany Beckman then put Hamline in the lead when she found an opening in a scrum in front of the SMU net at 12:10. Four minutes later, Roberts took a pass from
Arendje Louter and converted for her second marker of the wet afternoon. It was her 11th tally of the season, one shy of the lead in the MIAC. Her 24 overall points has her tied for second place in the loop.
