Box Score Reilly Geistfeld knows how to make her presence felt on the Hutton Arena court. In the winter, the sophomore is a major factor for the women's basketball team. On Saturday, she was the center of attention as well for the Piper volleyball team. Geistfeld had a season high 10 kills and hit a solid .318 in Hamline's very competitive 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-Stout. All three sets were up for grabs with the Blue Devils scrapping their way to 26-24, 25-21, 26-24 decisions.
In addition to Geistfeld, Cass Bittle delivered eight kills and hit .471 for the match.
Megan Rubbelke led a balanced assist brigade with 13.
Morgen Coleman added 11 and
Megan Anderson chipped in with 10. Anderson also had a game high 19 digs for her second double-double of the season. Rubbelke also doubled up with 10 digs.
Marisa Franco also reached double dig digits with 10.
Rubbelke, Anderson and
Sammie Coffler also helped on offense with two service aces apiece. In the opening match, HU railed 22-14 before going on a 10-2 run that tied matters at 24. Stout grabbed the lead midway through the second set and held on for the win. The Blue Devils started fast in the third set but HU used an 8-3 blitz to take a 14-13 lead. It went back and forth from there with HU hitting an impressive .341. The Pipers fought off a match point with a Coleman kill before the Blue Devils finally prevailed.
Hamline is 3-21 overall. The Pipers host St. Scholastica at Hutton Arena on Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m.
