VB Records Several Season Highs Against Saints

Box Score The Hamline volleyball team recorded a season high for kills, assists, digs and service aces but fell, 3-2, to St. Scholastica in a thrilling match at Hutton Arena Tuesday.

This was no ordinary non-conference match.

Four Pipers finished in double digits as part of a 61-kill output. Morgen Coleman led the way with 13 with Jaelin Jones (14) and Stephanie Maresh adding a dozen apiece. Cass Bittle was also part of this onslaught with 11. Coleman added 30 assists and Megan Rubbelke contributed 25 as part of a 59-assist effort. Four Pipers were double digit diggers. Megan Anderson led with 24 with Rubbelke and Marisa Franco handling 14 each and Sammie Coffler kicking in 10,

Reilly Geistfeld had three services among the dozen recorded. 

It went back and forth all night. There were 25 tie scores and 11 lead changes. The Saints took control late in the first set for a 25-19 win. Hamline built a big lead and held off a rally for a 25-21 second set win to even the match at one apiece. The teams then traded 25-20 sets to set up the fifth game showdown. Hamline led most of the set but the margin was never larger than three. There were nine tie scores in this set alone as both teams fought off match points until the Saints finally broke through for a 21-19 win. 

The Pipers are now 3-22 overall. They return to MIAC play Friday, October 20 against St. Mary's at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m. HU then heads out for its final road match of the year on Saturday, October 21 at St. Catherine. That match starts at 3:00 p.m.
