Box Score The HU women's soccer team struck first but lightning and St. Benedict struck back to deal the Pipers a 2-1 setback in St. Joseph. Despite the setback, Hamline maintained control of sixth place -- the final conference postseason position -- with a 4-4-1 record good for 13 points. HU leads seventh place Macalester by two points and is just one marker behind fourth place co-habitants Gustavus Adolphus and St. Catherine entering the final week of the season.

Brittany Beckman staked the Pipers to an early lead with a shot across the box that resulted in her fourth goal of the season at 20:55. HU held the lead through halftime, which was extended an additional 30 minutes because of lightning. Piper goalie Kat Armstrong was superb in the first session, making 10 saves.

The Blazers, however, scored twice 16 minutes apart to secure the win. HU was held to just four shots total for the game, dropping to 8-6-2 overall.

They go into the final week of the season with games left against teams they are trying to pass.

They have their Paterson Field regular season finale on Wednesday, October 25 against Gustavus Adolphus at 3:30 p.m. The regular season ends at St. Catherine on Saturday, October 28.
