Coleman Has 18 Digs To Lead VB Against UST

Box Score Morgen Coleman is used to taking charge on the Hutton Arena floor. The sophomore is a regular on the Piper women's basketball team that opens its season in three weeks. On Wednesday, she commanded the back line for Hamline's volleyball team against St. Thomas. Coleman had a game high 18 digs for the Pipers who lost a very competitive 3-0 match to the Tommies. 

HU went stride for stride with UST in the first set before dropping a 25-21 decision. The first place Tommies won a 25-15 second set but HU jumped out early and grabbed a 9-4 lead in set 3. UST responded in kind and, after Hamline swatted away a pair of match points, closed out the match with a 25-17 decision. 

Cass Bittle and Marisa Franco paced the balanced offense with seven kills apiece. Megan Rubbelke was the set up person with 23 assists. In addition to Coleman's night, Rubbelke had nine digs and Franco added eight. 

HU, now 4-24 overall (1-9 MIAC) wraps up the 2017 season Saturday, October 28 at Hutton Arena. Macalester takes on the Pipers in the MIAC finale at 1:00 p.m. HU will then face Wisconsin-Superior in a non-conference affair that will start around 3:00 p.m.
