Box Score The men's basketball team placed three players in double figures but St. Olaf clamped down hard in the late going and escaped with a 63-56 decision at Hutton Arena Wednesday night. Kalu Abosi scored 12 points with Zach Smith and Isaac Brooks adding 11 each for Hamline, which is now 3-3 overall, 1-2 in the MIAC.

The night started well for the Pipers. They gave the league's top defensive team a dose of its own medicine much of the first half, leading by as many as 11 points. A late STO surge cut the advantage to 36-31 at halftime. Brooks recorded all his points in the first 20 minutes of play.

Abosi and Smith shared the offensive duties in the second half. Down 50-43, HU rallied for seven points in a row (including four free throws by Smith, who also had a game high six assists) to tie the game at 50 with 6:16 left. St. Olaf went up 52-50 but Abosi evened matters at 52 with a layup with 3:56 on the clock. The visitors then scored the next six points and kept the Pipers at bay the rest of the way. Dylan See-Rockers had another strong rebounding game, leading the board battle with 11. He also had three steals.

HU heads on the road for two more conference games before breaking for the holidays. The Pipers are at Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. They head to St. John's on December 13.
