9/20/2017 8:48:00 PM

Box Score Adam King scored early.

Trevor Tallaksen scored late.

And Dean Isaacson didn't let anybody score on his end until near the last minute of the game.

The result was a  2-1 victory for the Piper men's soccer team Wednesday in Wis-Superior. HU improved to 5-3 overall with the win.

As he did Saturday against Carleton, King got the game off to a good start for HU. His fourth goal of the season was an unassisted effort just 3:56 into the game. The California native broke free on the right and sailed in to give HU a lead they did not relinquish.

It took a while but King played a major part in the second goal that clinched matters. This came at 83:24. King's corner kick was redirected by Tallaksen, who headed the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.

Isaacson looked to be on his way to get his second straight shutout and third  in the past four games but the Yellowjackets connected with 48 seconds remaining to make things interesting. HU fought them off the rest of the way for a second straight win. Isaacson recorded four saves to earn the victory in goal. Hamline took nine shots, five of which landed on goal. Tallaksen and King led the way with two each. King now leads the Piper offense with four goals and five assists for 13 points. The total ranks second among all MIAC attackers.

Hamline, which is 1-1 in league action,  gets back into conference play Saturday with a game at Paterson Field, against Concordia (2-4-1, 0-1-1 MIAC). game time is 1:00 p.m.
