W Soccer Finds Another Scorer

9/26/2017 6:43:00 PM

Box Score The final result didn't go the way the Hamline women's soccer team wanted. But  there were bright spots for head coach Emily Cripe in a 3-2 non-conference loss to Wis-Stout Tuesday at Paterson Field.

Arendje Louter scored her fifth goal of the season tie Kaley Roberts for the team lead in 2017 with five. The second half tally was her 20th career goal as a Piper, moving her into a tie with Anna McMahon (2004-07) for third place on the school's all-time liost. Perhaps even more important, HU got a goal from freshman Ellie Baxter, her second of the season, thus expanding the list of Pipers opposing teams need to keep an eye on.

Unfortunately for HU, the Blue Devils came with offensive plans of their own. Baxter opened the scoring on a feed from Brittany Beckman at 22:18. UWS tied the game six minutes later. Louter converted an Ali Eastman pass at 52:49 to give HU a second lead at 2-1. UWS came back even quicker, scoring at 54:33. The Blue Devils broke the tie 20 minutes later and held off HU from there.

Hamline dropped to 5-3-1 overall at the midway point of the schedule. The Pipers have little to brood, however. Martin Luther (4-1-2) comes to Paterson Field Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
