Roberts' Pair Helps WSOC To First 2017 Win

9/6/2017 6:56:00 PM

Box Score Hamline head women's soccer coach Emily Cripe got her first win the way her predecessor got some of his last season -- off the talented foot of sophomore forward Kaley Roberts. The Naches, Wash. junior scored twice in the second half to lift the Pipers to a 3-2 win at Wis-River Falls Wednesday afternoon. Gaby Diaz had the other marker and Kat Armstrong was strong with goal with eight saves (five in the first half) as the Pipers evened their 2017 standard at 1-1-1.

Diaz, also a sophomore, opened the scoring with a solo effort 10:31 into the game. The Falcons tied the game in the final minute of the session. Roberts, who also had the HU goal in Saturday's 2-1 double OT loss at George Fox, put the Pipers back head for good at 47:29. She nailed her second unassisted effort of the  game at 83:11. It turned out to be a bigger goal than expected when WRF scored 80 seconds later.

The Pipers stiffened from there and held the Falcons at bay to claim their first triumph of the year. Hamline took 13 shots for the game. Roberts led with seven while Arendje Louter contributed two.

After playing three on the road, Hamline gets their first look at life at Paterson Field Saturday when they host Minnesota-Morris. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
