Box Score It was one of those nights when
Dylan See-Rockers seemed larger than his 6-3 frame. The senior scored a season high 21 points and Hamline shot 56 percent from the field in a wide open 92-81 men's basketball loss at Augsburg Wednesday.
Isaac Brooks contributed 17 points and
TC Robinson rung up 10 for the Pipers, now 5-6 overall and 1-5 in the MIAC.
HU recorded a season high 23 assists, led by
Zach Smith, who had a game high eight.
Ethan Scheuring came off the bench with a solid effort -- a team high seven rebounds as well as giving out five assists.
The first 20 minutes was really a tale of two halves. In the first 10 minutes, Augsburg jumped on the Pipers, racing to a 31-18 lead. See-Rockers ignited a comeback with a three-pointer and Brooks followed up with a pair of baskets. A See-Rockers three-pointer with 1:57 left in the half gave HU a one-point lead -- a margin they held at intermission by 43-42.
A pair of Brooks layups severed a 49-all tie and gave Hamline its biggest lead of the evening. The Auggies then got hot, scoring 13 of the game's next 14 points to grab a 12-point advantage. HU whittled it down to seven with five minutes left but that was as close as they could get.
This is the start of a busy period for Hamline, which has four games in eight days. Fortunately for the Pipers, the next three are at Hutton Arena. Macalester is first up on Saturday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. Bethel is the visitor on Monday, January 8 and Carleton caps the homestand on Wednesday, January 10. The latter two games start at 7:00 p.m.
