Box Score Before Wednesday's volleyball game with Carleton, Hamline's players welcomed several of their favorite faculty teachers to Hutton Arena. Then the Pipers showed what they had learned away from the classroom.
The Pipers hit a torrid .405 and added 10 service aces to the mix in a 3-0 win over Carleton before an appreciative crowd. Hamline won its third match in a row to inch closer to the .500 mark with a 9-10 overall record. HU also improved to 1-6 in MIACÂ play with the 25-18, 25-18, 25-12 sweep of the Knights.
It was a balanced attack up front and in the back row.
Morgen Coleman,
Sydney Larson and
Madison Hurrle shared top honors with nine kills each.
Erin Tadych paced the digs with seven with Coleman adding six and the trio of
Megan Rubbelke,
Megan Anderson and
Karly Bihner delivering five apiece. Coleman and Bihner also had four service aces while Rubbelke contributed 30 assists.Â
The Pipers had five aces alone in the first set that set the tone for the night. HU used an 8-2 run to sever an 11-all tie and take charge of the set. The Knights led much of the middle set but the Pipers eventually caught up to tie things at 17. HU then rang up seven unanswered points en route to the win. There was no such drama in the third set as the Pipers led from the start to complete the sweep.
Hamline will look to get even on the season and duplicate the four match winning streak that started the season Friday, October 12 when they welcome North Central (Minn.) to Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
