The Hamline volleyball team dug deep against Concordia Thursday at Hutton Arena. The Pipers recorded a season high 102 digs in a tight 3-1 loss to the Cobbers.
Megan Rubbelke (2), who also had a season high 45 assists, led the way with 20. Five others also ended up in double digits:
Morgen Coleman (17),
Karly Bihner 914) and the triumvirate of
Megan Anderson,
Sydney Larson and
Erin Tadych all recorded 12.
Larson led the offensive charge with 15 kills to go over the century mark for her first season with 112.
Madison Hurrle had 13 to add to her team leading total of 158. Coleman had 12 and
Gabby Robinson also passed the 100 mark for the season with 10 for a total of 1-1.
The Pipers were outscored by a mere four points for the night. HU took leads in each of the first two sets but CC came back for 25-21 and 25-22 verdicts. There was no stopping the Pipers in the third set, a 25-19 triumph. Hamline held the Cobbers to a .106 attack percentage for the set. The fourth set rocked back and forth before the Cobbers gained the final points for a 25-22 decision to end the night.
Hamline dropped to 6-10 on the season, 0-6 in MIAC play. They will get a respite from conference action on Saturday, October 6 when they welcome Finlandia (3:00 p.m.) and Martin Luther (5:00 p.m.) to Hutton Arena. The Lions and Knights will face Wisconsin-River Falls in matches at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
