Brendan Sheehan and
Mitch McPherson supplied the offense for Hamline's men's hockey team in a 5-2 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday at TRIA Rink. Sheehan, a freshman, got his first collegiate goal on a wraparound on the power play 1:55 into the second period. HU trailed, 2-0, at the time and seemed to pick up some momentum against the undefeated Pointers.
UWSP, however, answered with a shorthanded goal late in the period. The Pointers added two more in the third. McPherson got one back with 2:10 to play to end the scoring. The senior forward was a force all night, firing eight of the Pipers' 26 shots on goal.
Piper goalie
Evan Robert was busy all night, stopping 31 shots.
Hamline fell to 0-3 on the season. They will look to get on the winning side of matters Saturday, November 3 against Wisconsin-Eau Claire, also at TRIA Rink. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
