Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Zarembinski Leads W Hockey To Big Home Ice Win

Becca Zarembinski exploded for three goals and Hamline kept its unbeaten record at TRIA Rink intact with a solid 7-1 win over St. Benedict Friday. Dani Wright, Rae Robert, Bre Simon and Molly Garin also scored for the Pipers, who improved to 4-0 overall and swept their first MIAC series of the year.

The Pipers are 10-0-1 in their new home in downtown St. Paul.

As they did Thursday in a 6-1 win over the Bennies in St. Cloud, the Pipers struck early. Wright scored her third of the year 2:20 and Simon made it 2-0 48 seconds later. Midway in the middle frame, Robert netted her first college goal. Zarembinski upped the margin to 4-0 on a power play but the Bennies negated that with a shorthanded goal at 16:49.

In the third period, Zarembinski completed her hat trick -- her first as a Piper with goals six minutes apart. Garin, who leads then team with six assists, finished off the onslaught with her first college tally at 9:02 of the period. McKenna Hulslander knocked away 12 shots in goal in 46:08 of play to earn the win. Jaela O'Brien went the last 13:52 in the net.

Hamline outshot CSB, 46-14 with Zarembinski leading the way with eight. Garin had seven.

The Pipers, ranked No. 4 in two national D-III polls this week, are back in the thick of MIAC action next weekend with a home and home series against Gustavus Adolphus who is also ranked in the top 10. The teams face off in St. Peter on Friday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. The rematch is at TRIA Rink on Saturday, November 17.
