Men's BB Back at .500 With Win at Macalester

Box Score Five players reached double figures as Hamline's men's basketball team evened their season record at 11-11 with a 98-88 win at Macalester Monday night. Dylan See-Rockers had a career high 27 points and added six rebounds to lead HU, now 7-10 in MIAC games and winners of two in a row. Zach Smith also was strong with 21 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven. 

TC Robinson scored 13 points with Isaac Brooks contributing 11 and Nick Powell adding 10 and also garnering seven rebounds. 

The Pipers won this one at the free throw line, connecting on 32 of 41 attempts. See-Rockers was 10-for-11 and Smith was 8-for-10 to lead the Pipers. Smith, who became the eighth player in school history to connect on 300 free throw attempts, also added five assists and recorded the 100th steal of his Piper career. 

HU took charge midway in the first half, developing a 48-41 lead at halftime. The Scots rallied, grabbing a six-point lead at 61-55 with 14:20 left in the second half.  Hamline responded in kind with See-Rockers making a layup with 9:41 to go to push the visitors ahead by 69-67. The Scots tied the game at 69 only to see the Pipers erupt for a 7-0 lead to take the lead for good. Macalester got as close as four points but the Pipers hit free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory.

Hamline travels to Arden Hills to face Bethel on Wednesday, February 7. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
